Octavian begins the opera by singing of the Marschallin’s beauty in the dawn light, expressing youthful passion in the intimacy of her bedroom. Octavian’s voice caresses the Marschallin with tender adoration, capturing the fleeting magic of their love.

Anastasia Koorn sings Concepción’s aria, “Oh! La pitoyable aventure!” from L’heure espagnole by Maurice Ravel (1875 - 1937). In this comic opera, Concepción navigates a dizzying web of secret lovers and farcical chaos, as the relentless ticking clock heightens the farcical tension before her husband’s return. This was performed as part of the Opera Studio’s Summer Triple Bill which included Benjamin Britten’s “Les Illuminations,” Kurt Weill’s “Chansons de Quais,” and Maurice Ravel’s “L’heure espagnole.”

Anastasia Koorn sings the role of Hansel from Hansel and Gretel by Engelbert Humperdinck (1854 - 1921) with Miami Music Festival. In a perilous fairy-tale world, Hansel and Gretel outwit a wicked witch, their bravery and cleverness leading to a joyous reunion and the triumph of family and courage. This production of Hansel and Gretel featured immersive projection mapping technology, placing the audience in a continuous 360-degree display.
